We can imagine very well that you might experience almost decision fatigue. There is so much to visit, experience, and explore in the surroundings of camping Viareggio. Feel free to ask the reception staff for advice; they will be happy to assist you.

To explore the area peacefully, you could hop on a bike. There are numerous beautiful routes. On the Komoot website, you can find plenty of cycling routes in the vicinity of camping Viareggio.

Lucca, just 27 kilometers from the campsite, could be reached by bike and boasts a rich history. The charming town (with about 90,000 inhabitants) is completely walled. In the former Santa Maria del Carmine church, on the square of the same name, there is a daily market. From early morning (7:00) until around one in the afternoon. After the afternoon rest, the market resumes from 16:00 to 19:30. In the summer, there is no market on Saturday afternoons. Stroll through the beautiful streets and relax on one of the many terraces. Piazza dell’Anfiteatro is a beautiful, well-known location and therefore a bit more expensive. Lucca, however, has plenty of other squares and streets where you can enjoy Tuscan life on a terrace.

Pisa is only 20 kilometers from the campsite, which can be an advantage if you want to avoid crowds. We cannot guarantee that you will have the leaning tower to yourself, whether you come very early or later in the day, but it certainly helps.

“The paradise,” composer Puccini is said to have exclaimed when he first saw Lago di Massaciuccoli. This villa where Puccini lived is now a small museum (Museo Villa Puccini). Here, Puccini wrote, among other works, La Bohème, Madame Butterfly, and the opera Tosca. Puccini’s Villa is less than 7 kilometers from the campsite.

Above all, do not forget the town of Viareggio itself. The center with a vibrant nightlife is definitely worth a visit.
